3-D Printed Herb Garden

This is a piece that I just completed for digital object design 2 in Rhino. It is a 3-D modeled object used for growing and storing basil in three forms: seeds, fresh and dried. I made this because I wanted fresh herbs to be more accessible in the kitchen. the form is based off test tubes in a holder. It will be printed in Z corp (a plaster material) and I will insert a magnet in the back so it can hang on the fridge. I will also use corks to cap off the seeds and dried basil.

  1. You may want to consider making each test tube fully removable so when you go to empty the seeds and/or dried basil, the fresh basil does not get dumped out in the process. Also, my experience with objects printed from z-corp is that the material is very fragile and breaks easily. If you keep removing the basil holder every time you need basil, it could break the object within the first month of use. Just a thought.

  2. Oh, I forgot to mention, they are all fully removable. Also, I will be infiltrating it with resin to add strength.
